About

This site was created in February. It is dedicated to the exhibition of wares made by the Uhl Pottery Company. The Uhl Pottery Company was founded in 1849 as the A & L Uhl Pottery Company, by brothers August and Louis Uhl. Pottery was initially produced in Evansville, Indiana. In 1908, production was moved to Huntingburg, Indiana.

Uhl Pottery offered an extensive range of functional products designed for daily use, including jugs, crocks, churns, kitchenware, and garden ware.  They also offered decorative and novelty items, including an assortment of miniature pieces.

Although Uhl Pottery ceased operation in 1944, there continues to be an interest in collecting their pieces. The Uhl Collectors Society (UCS) formed in 1985 and continues today.

Because there are challenges in viewing private collections, this site allows anyone with a web browser to see and appreciate a representative sampling of many common Uhl Pottery pieces.
